Officer Bios
Ramona Johnson brings a plethora of knowledge and skills to her role as president of Expect. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Master of Business Administration. Her background in both her personal life and career reflect her accomplishments as well as commitment to enriching the lives of others. Significant among her many experiences, Ms. Johnson, who has more than 20 years of experience in the housing and community development arena, joined NeighborWorks America in 2008 as Partnership & Growth Consultant for the Mid-Atlantic District. She currently serves as Management Consultant for NeighborWorks and is directly responsible for being the key liaison for diagnosis of and brokering resources for eight organizations within the Northeast District. Previously, she spent close to twelve years as senior deputy director of the Baltimore Community Business Center/Partnership Office responsible for identifying and sourcing the company’s community development investment activities and single-family mortgage business opportunities in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area. She considered that role especially rewarding due to the primary focus on underserved populations and minority groups.
In her community and civic involvement, she has served on numerous committees and boards in a variety of different capacities at local, state, and national levels. In July 2004, Johnson was appointed by the Governor of Maryland to serve a 5-year term on the Baltimore County Board of Education. In 2007, Johnson received the Valued Hours Award from The Fullwood Foundation. She was reappointed to the Baltimore County Board in August 2009. Throughout her life, Ms. Johnson has strived to make meaningful contributions to her community, and youth in particular. Ms. Johnson, or Ramona, as she prefers, has been widely recognized for her efforts on behalf of the community. She continues to demonstrate this dedication as leader of the EXPECT organization.
Mrs. Mary-Margaret (Meg) O’Hare is a longtime advocate for a rigorous and equitable education for all children in Baltimore County Public Schools. She served several terms as the PTSA president at Parkville High School; chaired the Baltimore County Board of Education’s Northeast Area Educational Advisory Council for many years. In 2005, she was appointed by the Board of Education of Baltimore County as the Coordinator of the Area Advisory Councils countywide. Meg was also a member of the Baltimore County Education Coalition which was a grass roots organization advocating for quality public education in Baltimore County. Meg was appointed by the BCPS Superintendent to the Minority Achievement Advisory Group and later to the Diversity Achievement Steering Committee.
Ms. O’Hare has been active in her community and has served as President of the Carney Improvement Association since 2003. She was appointed to the Baltimore County Commission on Human Relations representing the 5th County Council District. In 2006 Meg was appointed as a member-at-large to the Baltimore County Board of Education. During her Board of Education term, she served as Chair of the Policy Committee, Assistant Chair of the Curriculum Committee, member of the Budget and Audit Committee and member of the Building and Contracts Committee.
Meg retired as a computer specialist from the Social Security Administration. She earned a B.A. from the College of Notre Dame and an M.A. Loyola College. Meg and husband, Tom, have four sons, 4 granddaughters, 2 grandsons and 1 great granddaughter. EXPECT is fortunate to benefit from Meg’s wisdom and lifelong commitment to children.
